A wonderful collection of pictures from gifted photographer, Sylvester Jacobs that capture the early life of L'Abri.
Sylvester Jacobs, a young black man from Oklahoma, who although a Christian, growing up in the 60s, questioned if God really cared about black people.
His encounter with the Schaeffer's and L'Abri would not only open his eyes to the love of Christ among Christians that crosses generational, racial, and nationality barriers, but it also inspired healing and fostered a new era in personal artistry. Portrait of Shelter is just one example.
For more information on Sylvester watch for our video interview and read his book Born Black or Portrait of England
